And with strange aeons even death may die…

"Briarstone Asylum was built around the foundations of an abandoned fort, as evidenced by its thick stone walls. I could almost feel them embrace me as I entered the building, as if to welcome me home… In a way, Briarstone knew more about my mind than I did… Forgive me if these entries seem jumbled. I find it harder and harder to keep my thoughts straight. Let me begin thusly: My name is Jerius Wynak, I am a Pathfinder, and I believe that I am haunted. Not by any ghost or phantom, but by an idea of a place I have seen only in my nightmares. And so, seeking a way to ease my troubled mind, I traveled to Thrushmoor in Ustalav, a place with a history of unusual happenings. Under the guise of undertaking an important Society mission, I began to comb through the nearby Asylum’s records in hopes of finding at least one reference to someone with a similar affliction."

Asylums, they are places that evoke dark and unsettling feelings. Though they may strive to be places of peace and comfort for those suffering mental afflictions, they invariably become tainted with the suffering and madness of their occupants. It seeps into their foundations and becomes a part of them. Those who find themselves committed to such an institution often do not fully comprehend their own afflictions. Our players have gone a step beyond that, awaking in an asylum with no recollection of who they are or how they got there. And worse yet, something has gone terribly wrong in this asylum…
